Situated on the edge of Ancient woodland in the rolling hills of the Sussex countryside. Join us for a celebration of All Things Fungi. A weekend of Mushroom Identification & Cultivation, Lectures & Demonstrations, Microscopy, UV Nightwalks, workshops, Art, live music, and more.
This eco-conscious event will be educational and community-oriented involving local and national fungi groups. Using Fungi as the focus we hope to inspire and re connect people with nature. The festival aims to cover Mushroom identification, cultivation, microscopy, DNA sequencing and topics surrounding the soil food web, composting, permaculture & and rewilding.
Most importantly, we will celebrate the people at the forefront of mycology in the UK and beyond.
At All Things Fungi Festival, we celebrate creativity, exploring the somewhat blurred boundaries where art meets science. We celebrate the creative spirit of fungi through artistic expression, innovative programming, and imaginative installations. The festival is a canvas for creativity, inviting participants to explore the boundless realms of both nature and human ingenuity.
Each day will start with a variety of wellness events, from yoga to gong baths. After a day packed full of nature based activities, we’ll relax with live music and entertainment by the fire or at the secret woodland stage, or go and explore the fluorescent forest with UV torches. Look for bats and listen for owls or simply appreciate the dark skies. Whether you’re new to fungi or an experienced mycologist there will be something for everyone.
Central to our mission is the promotion of joy, laughter, and a sense of wonder. We infuse every aspect of the festival with an atmosphere of celebration, ensuring that each attendee leaves with cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for the natural world and a greater understanding of Kingdom Fungi.
The event will take place in the picturesque Sussex countryside on the beautiful Chiddinglye estate surrounded by meadows, forests, and dark skies. The site plays host to many diverse species a section of which is listed as a site of scientific importance.
We aim to tread lightly and play respectfully leaving no trace.
To celebrate all things fungi we have invited some of the most influential mycologists, ecologists, citizen scientists and nature enthusiasts to come and share their passion and experience.
For far too long, Fungi have been under appreciated and under-studied. We feel it’s time to give Fungi the attention and recognition they deserve.
